Library App - Apple iOS - Preparation for your Form Submission

This article contains information that will help you prepare for submitting your Library App form to us.

The information and images we will need you to provide are listed below.

Please review and have the following information/images available for when you submit your form.

Contact and Account Details

Requester Name 

  • Please enter your first and last name.

Account / Company Name 

  • Please enter your account name in this field.  This is the username you use to log in to  your account.
    Enter your company name if you do not yet have a username yet.

Copyright Information (eg "2008 Acme Inc.") 

  • The name of the person or entity that owns the exclusive rights to the app, preceded by the year the rights were obtained (for example, "2008 Acme Inc.").

What kind of App do I want? (The type of App defines what content will be made available in the App - You choose 1)

  • All Titles under my Account
  • A Specific Title under my Account
  • All Titles under all Accounts under my Master Account

Title Name

  • This is the Title under which you want all live issues to be available in your App.  Only applies if you choose "A Specific Title under my Account"

App Naming and Description

Apple Application Name (Short)

  • Up to 12 characters, this is the name that will be shown on the device.

Apple Application Name (Long)

  • Limited to 255 characters (iTunes).  Must be unique, and no copyrights

Price to Charge for Apple Application

  • Either free or a price in USD/GBP/EUR.  Note internal gift codes can be set.
  • Leave field blank if you want the App to be free of charge to download

Apple App Description

  • 4000 character limit but 700 recommended, stick to plain
    text no HTML formatting.

    Here are some tips:
    * Focus on what makes the content of your publication unique.
    * Keep your application icons free of terms like “sale,” “lite,” or “free.”
    * You can use bullet lists and section headers to make it easy to read.
    * Make sure your application descriptions do not include objectionable material or irrelevant content.
    * Leave out specific information about the price of your app in your Application Description.
    * Descriptions are searchable so you can use keywords here, but don’t over do it.
    * Checklist: Who uses? Features? Reviews? User Quotes?

  • Choose the category that best represents your publication
    • Books
    • Business
    • Education
    • Entertainment

Apple iOS Keywords

  • There is a maximum 100 characters for keywords list so please be specific when choosing your keywords

Apple Application URL - eg  http://www.yourwebsite.com/App

  • For use in the App Store listing only
  • Have your application URL take the user to a functioning website with detailed information about
    your application. It can be a simple one page as well.
  • Feature contact details and you could even add a simple FAQ with questions like check connection
    settings

Apple Application Support URL - eg http://www.yourwebsite.com/App/support

  • Enter a URL for an existing live webpage where users can find contact details for support questions.

Apple Application Support Email

  • This is the email address that users can forward any support questions to

Content Ratings for Apple App Store

  • Please check the box (none, Infrequent/Mild, Frequent/Intense) that applies for each category
    • Cartoon or Fantasy Violence
    • Realistic Violence
    • Sexual Content or Nudity

Apple App Content Requirements (10 image files needed)

Library App Logo

  • This logo should be a 140X22 px PNG file

Apple Splash Loading Images

  • Format: Description, Size w x h/Format, Filename
  • Use images that can apply universally to all your digital editions on the app
    • iPhone, 320 x 480 PNG24, Default.png
    • iPhone 4, 640 x 960 PNG 24, Default@2x.png
    • iPad (1), 768 x 1004 PNG24, Default-Portrait.png
    • iPad (2), 1024 x 748 PNG24, Default-Landscape.png

Apple Device Icons

  • Note: All icons must have no transparency, with rounded edges use black background.

    Format: Description, Size w x h/Format, Filename

    • iPhone icon, 57 x 57 PNG, FILENAME = Icon.png
    • iPhone 4 icon, 114 x 114 PNG,  FILENAME = Icon@2x.png
    • iPad icon, 72 x 72 PNG,  FILENAME = Icon-72.png

Apple iTunes Stores Icons

  • Note: No transparency in all iTunes Store content cant be in PNG, so use High Quality JPEG’s or TIFF’s
    Format: Description, Size w x h/Format, Filename

    These icon files should be the same image and correspond to the Apple Device Icons above.

    • iTunes Store Application Icon 1, 57 X 57   JPG/TIFF, (anyfilename)
      • Regular iTunes Store Icon
    • iTunes Store Application Icon 2, 512 x 512 JPG/TIFF, (anyfilename)
      • A large version of your app icon that will be used on the App Store. It must be at least 72 DPI and a minimum of 512x512 pixels (it cannot be scaled up). It must be flat artwork without rounded corners
